I thought that I would post this to help somebody with the same problem.
I have a Maglite AA Led multimode flashlight, model SP2201H. I use it at work and use it at least 100 times a day, dropped it on concrete floors about 4 times a week, accidently submerged it in water and oil.
After 6 months of abuse, it started to flicker and dim. I was ready to throw it out, but after a quick Google search, I found the fix.
Disassemble the light according to this u tube video:

After removing the led unit, I found the led to battery contact had flattened out and had some corrosion on it. I removed the corrosion with a pencil eraser and carefully reshaped the contact to increase the tension to the battery. Then I applied some silicone dielectric grease to the led/battery contact, the led housing where it contacts the barrel for the ground connection and between the tail cap and spring. Basically, I applied a light coating of grease to all the electrical contact areas to prevent oxidation.
Then I replaced the scratched lens from Ebay, I bought about 20 lenses:

After the repair, the light works like new again...
