Dead spot on emitter

So last night I was playing with my GF's 10x magnifying loupe and my flashlights and I found a dead spot on the SST-90 of my Maelstrom S18.
Sometimes it flickers and after a couple of minutes it kinda goes away.

I took a couple of pics, the top of the emitter is where the dark spot is in both pictures:

Here is the emitter on the light. Notice there is no debris on the dome or the lens:

Have any of you experienced this before?

My SC52w appears to have that - noticed this the first day I received it. Never thought about sending it back though as I love the tint on it (looks like I won on that front) and it does not appear to affect the beam. No flicker issues either.

I don't think it affects output at all.
Also, the flickering is not happening on the whole emitter. I see the dark spot flicker as if it was trying to turn on.
