Hi guys,

I'm pretty new on this website and the whole world of fancy torches. I have what I hope is a simple query in regards to the Nitecore EA4, in that when I use it, even for a few minutes the the handle/outside battery compartment area, starts to become warm, when used in the higher modes. I am using Eneloop batteries.

Is this a common trait in these torches? Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

I received my new EA4 just today.

It is sitting on the table next to me, in turbo mode. Yes, it is getting warm. Heat from all that light output has to go somewhere!

This light, like most others, has "fins" around the head, like an air cooled motorcycle, to aid in dissipating the heat.

Getting hot is good - you want that because it means that the heat from the LED is going somewhere. If it stayed inside it will kill the LED quickly. If you hold it in your hand the heat will go into you and keep the torch even cooler! So, yes, this is normal.
