If you mean a zinc-carbon AA battery, expect rather poor runtime. If you can't get alkaline batteries there and don't want to bring a lot of them, your best bet is bring some NiMH rechargeables and a charger. You might also want to bring a lower-powered light along, like a CMG Infinity or Arc AA. Those will run for a long time even on the zinc-carbon batteries.
