Hi guys,

Just thought I'd post a thread on a new project for my newly acquired SR96.

I love the beam and the flood of this unit. It's very practical for use.
But I also want to be able to get some further distance out of this thing along with the sheer lumen power.

The plan is to make a slip-on head that has 3 aspheric lens' placed over the 3 MKR emitters. The main idea is to cause no changes or damage to the SR96. I want to preserve it's original form.

The information I have so far.

Diameter of the head: 90.00mm

Diameter of the lens holes: 31.55mm

Depth from front face of head to lens: 3.31mm

The bezel ring with "! HOT SURFACE" is removable with a thread that could be useful for this accessory idea.

If anyone has any idea's feel free to post them here. I will be pitching my own idea's as I visualize and flesh them out.

I need to know what the focal length will be but I am unable to remove the protective lens to measure down to the emitter.

Here are some lens' that i'm looking at:

Maybe you could use lenses from "Bubbles" glasses? lol

Sounds like an interesting project. Should really throw if you can focus and align the beams!

perfectly focused aspherics on the mkr will put out a beam that looks like a window.

Hmm I realise that. Perhaps I will make it so that it is just short of perfect focus - that way I still get a focused beam

I think so too. I ordered one of each to test the lens first.

Would it make any sense to take advantage of the three emitters having bezels that might allow three smaller aspheric lenses, so the 3 projected "windows" might overlap on the target?

Thats the plan TEEJ. Having three lenses - one for each MKR.
They should overlap at greater distances. They may not. Here's to finding out the fun way though hey.
