Yeah, the American one is one I've enjoyed before. I one that I sent to my neighbor. He starts his car cold every morning and drives the 0.5 miles to the gym to walk on the stepper for an hour. Then he drives his cold car home again. I have begged him to ride his bike to cut down on his workout time, AND help the environment. But it just ain't gonna happen. I suppose if he had a gas-powered stepper that would do the workout at the gym for him, he'd probably go that route. /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/icon3.gif

Is it possible that that last one is so that 24HR fitness complies with the ADA, to provide accessibility to the building for those with disabilities?

I don't see any wheelchair ramps, so it does not comply with the ADA. Sometimes the ADA (or interpretation) goes waaaaay too far. Most disabled people in the USA wouldn't have the money for a Gym membership. If they had a Gym membership, then their being disabled would be in jeopardy (in the maze of bureaucratic regulations). Nevermind that their Cardiologist or Heart Surgeon wants them to lose fat and improve health, for their heart.

Many of the 'future Earth overcrowded distopia' novels and such could give rise to such programmed and crowded "fun places" to go and relax. *shudder*
