Found these gold beads as a tritium alternative for the Quantum DD/D2 series lights.
They are same size as the tritium (1.5mm x 6mm).
They can found on Amazon, Walmart, ebay, and a few other places.
Just search for: 22K Gold Plated Liquid Tube Beads 6mm x 1.5mm
Prices vary but they are around $2 for 50 gold beads.

The ones pictured in the light have been colored with a black sharpie to match the dark coating of the Quantum D2.

I didn't use any glue or epoxy, as the beads have a nice snug fit in the holes.

That's cool, got a pic of how it looks with non painted gold beads? Just being curious, I think I'm about to get myself a D2 and I'm slightly concerned with slipping tritium vials into it (I drop my keys constantly...). Will those gold beads take a red Sharpie's coloring? Heh...

Beads look like a great idea. I actually had one of my tritium vials break so I may put some type of bead in. Thanks for the idea.

Here is how it will look with the gold (non painted)
The sharpie coating does seem to come off slowly after use.
I've been using a regular sharpie but there is also the industrial strength sharpie which might hold color longer.
