Is (are?) L3 Illumination and Supbeam related?

Hi: I have a question on these two companies.....L3 Illumination and Supbeam.They both carry the K40 flashlight and each one has the respective labelling,one is marked Supbeam and one is marked L3 Illumination.....same light(K40). I guess the original maker allows other companies to relabel the light,much like what is done with some 18650 Li-ion batteries (Panasonics being re-labeled). I also notice that the Deft-X is based on this K40 body......so who is the "original" maker of this K40 light?? Thanks,HB

"L3 Illumination" is not a company, it's just a custom logo that's laser-etched on certain Supbeam products, which could be done for free if you order a certain minimum quantity of product

Supbeam is an actual flashlight maker in china

yep supbeam is the ONLY maker of the K40. they're also the OEM of a bunch of other products under different brands
