Fraen LP and 5W LS - any reports ?

Bump for you Klaus. I would like to know too.
I briefly stuck one severely underdriven on 4AA's on top of a 5W just to check out the beam. Donut hole /ubbthreads/images/graemlins/grin.gif I heard that optimizing the distance between the LED and optic can minimize this but if I have to worry about that AND centering the LED, then it's not worth it. Just trying to center it is a PITA all by itself.

I've tried the NX05 and the FraenLP, both have a donut void, but it seems the Fraen has less... The McFlood seems to be better.
If you use the proper sized o-ring as a spacer to get the proper distance from the emitter for the optic, the o-ring actually aids in centering. I used this method for the Fraen optic in a couple of M@g mods that I did when I didn't have the holder for the optic.

I am waiting for a ARC-5W-Fraen-BB750 mod by Jets22 ( i think that also Kiessling is waiting for a similar mod ) when i'll receive it i'll post some beamshot , for now take a look here on the left SF-L4 on the right ARC-5W-Fraen mod.
