My Elzetta Charlie High Output gets kinda hot if it is on for around 5 minutes, any other owners notice this?

After only 5 minutes the Charlie isn't even warmed up yet

I don't own an Elzetta Charlie, but many high output lights get warm/hot during prolonged use.

Heat has to go somewhere. Better for the body to get hot then the emitter - that is the purpose of heat sinking.

880arm, that is a very useful chart (and easy to read), nicely done :twothumbs

Thank you.

I should have pointed out that test was conducted with the light simply sitting in a holder for the entire time so it probably reflects more of a "worst case" scenario. In actual use the Charlie will definitely get hot but maybe not quite as hot as what's shown in the chart.
