JetBeam Jet-III M No High Mode HELP

Hi,
I received a JetBeam Jet-iii M for christmas. I dropped in a trust fire 18650 and it will only go on in programmable mode ( have to loosen the cap until the o-ring shows, is that normal?). It doesn't turn on at all when I screw the cap down all the way. I done some searching have not found any other reports like this. Do I have a dud?

Sounds like the tailcap- tighten the internal tailcap ring - the one with 2 holes. u can also bypass the switch with a paper clip for confirmation.

^^^^ I agree with Swan's suggestion. The tailcap should not work with it unscrewed. Mine works as a lockout tailcap unscrewed.

maybe the protected battery is too long and doesn't allow the light to fully tighten?

On this model the battery tube threads are annodised for lock out- so if the cell was too long it would not turn on at all, as the circuit wont be complete.
