Fraen LP vs. regular?

Can anyone commment on the differences between the narrow beam Fraens? Is it worth it to go with the larger optic over the LP for throw? Any comparisons with 30mm?

If I want throw in a AA sized light with MM sandwiches, one cell or two cells, then I go with LP fraen. With larger lights, like Elektrolumen's Blaster series, the 30mm works for me. I have compared throw of Blaster-1R, which operates at a sedate 350 or so mA's, to the MM+R2H wide open, which operates well above 350mA's, and the 1R wins. I have no comparison shots.
