This afternoon I needed equipment from the toolbox mounted in the bed of my pickup.

The temperature here was around 20 degrees, and both locks on the lids were frozen shut.

Since I don't smoke, I am without a lighter of any sort to thaw the locks.

Quick thinking produced the Surefire 10X "Torch" from the charger mounted in the cabin.

About a one minute application of the 500 lumen beam close up on the lock produced a thaw equal to a summer day in Florida.

Both locks popped right open.

Double duty for the Surefire Dominator 10X "Torch"!

Tombeis - That is so neat! You HAVE to submit it to the "True Stories" thing over at SureFire, sounds like a winner to me. For some reason, I've always had trouble believing some of the stuff about scaring off gangs on Ninjas with an E1 (or something to that effect), but I can relate to your brilliant and heroic action (or at least I'd like to, some day).

But, don't be too humble, be sure to mention the lives you saved with the equipment you got out of the boxes with the frozen locks.
