Hey everyone. First time posting. Bought this headlamp after reading many reviews, and got some great information from these forums so many thanks for this.

I've been reading that batteries with the wrap not extended to the bottom can possibly lead to shorting. I'm no whiz on electrical stuff but could someone tell me if this is the case with this headlamp? I'm thinking that it's not the case as the terminal on the unscrewed end appears to connect the battery to the body of the flashlight anyway?

Also is this light safe to use with these unprotected batteries with regards to not overdischarging?

Many thanks in advance.

Update:

Sent email to Spark service people.

Re. protected cells: "ST6 can take unprotected cells, the power management chips will shut off around 2.7V." - Awesome

Re. battery wrap: "You dont need to worry about this, ST6 works even the battery was inserted backwards. This feature was illustrated in the printed manual."

I'm not sure if the second response addresses my concerns about shorting but have found the following which give me a vague idea about how the circuit might work http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb/showthread.php?354712-Help-with-a-ST6-Spark-Light-Warranty and http://h3.abload.de/img/comp_img_2436ie0q.jpg

I'm guessing that what is stopping potential shorting is the anodising?

(ps. definately not trying to call anyone into disrepute, this is just my fist foray into li-ion headlamps and after hearing about the dangers I want to thoroughly know what's going on)

Cheers for any input.
