Some people might be interested in this - a quick and dirty mod I did to a copy of a Spark SK3 that I thought was pretty underwhelming.

First, I dedomed the led in Petrol (Gasoline) - it's an XP-G2.

I machined up a pill in solid brass, to bring the led as close as possible to the lens.

Excuse the dodgy soldering - I was in a huge rush, and it's not how I like my soldering to look! Also, the methind of holding the star in is not ideal - large blobs of solder! Was the best way I could think of at the time.

I modified the driver to be direct drive. The original drive was only single mode, and as I mentioned earlier, rather underwhelming.

The dedoming made the tint nice an neutral, rather than the original cool white. Lovely.

The beam profile is now pure flood, and a beam angle of over 90°.

I'm impressed! Much better result than I thought. It heats up rather fast though - even with a large chunk of brass in there!

Hope someone finds this interesting!
