Everything tightened? Threads clean? Which battery are you using and what's the remaining voltage? Flickering also occurs with CR123 batteries?

I do use AW 18650 battery, but its kinda old 2yrs... the voltage is 3.9

Seems a bit soon but with 3.9V it could be the low voltage warning.
Don't know why you couldn't. As long it fits and voltage is right it should work.
