Hey Guys,

I've checked the forum for the answer but can't find anything definitive.

I just got a McGizmo AlTiN 8 flute Pd light.

Id like to know if it WILL handle rechargeable's

there is NO red nail polish on the LE
and I don't know what Run it was from. I'm hoping someone who has
more experience with McG's than me can answer this.

Re: ???Can my Ti-Pd take rechargeable's???

Nick - to the best of my knowledge all PDs can take rechargeable batteries. I think it was only the LS20 with the primary cell limitations and red nail polish. Now I could be wrong and hopefully another member will confirm this.

Hey Sean,

I hope you are right. The previous owner said, he believes it will, but still not enough for me.

Hopefully we can confirm this with another knowledgable member chiming in.

Can I get fellow PD owners to chime in, and tell me of they use rcr's in their
Ti McG PD,

I just want to be on the safe side of things. The last thing I need is to burn up a 600+ dollar light.
I think I would have a coronary embolism

I've got 4 PDs, but all of mine have had (or are having) their LE upgraded (4th one - chromed) is "in the shop now". So no worries, if you fry yours you can get it upgraded. PM me for details if you are interested. I've have neutral XMLs in 2, a triple in one and the chrome is getting a Nichia 219B.

Lol, Ha thanks for the insight. That does make me feel better
in case something goes sour. At least I know it can be fixed now.

Ive thought about upgrading to a XPG2, I'll have to mull it over

or if I fry my LE I'll be PM'ing you sooner than later.

thanks a lot

Nick

Any one else use RCR's in their un-modded Ti PD?

Here's a reference link ....

https://www.candlepowerforums.com/threads/85527

Note particularly the extended discussion of possible / prototype driver options, at the end of the OP there.

Note also that both the 8-flute design and AlTiN coating of your particular flashlight were non-standard, so it would certainly appear possible that this might have a non-standard driver, as well ...

Looks like the three main "stock" options were Wiz2x2, NexGen2x2, and GDx2. Each of these has different implications regarding recommended power source(s).

EDIT -

If your particular flashlight happens to be the (rare) XR19-PD, those apparently used the GDx2 driver exclusively (at least in unmodified stock form), as discussed here ...

Thank you very much Archimedes! I'll be certain to read those carefully when I get off work.
I really appreciate that. I was told by the previous owner that' my light was very rare.
But that's about all I know about it.

Hi Nicrod,

I have a Ti-PDs and i have been using rechargeable in it since it came with it. I have had no issues with my light. If you do happen to fry which i dont think should happen, you can always get your le upgraded. Thanks

Re: ???Can my Ti-Pd take rechargeable's???

Nicrod, I've always used rechargeables in all my Ti-PD lights and have had zero issues with any of them. During my 10+ years as a CPF member, I've probably been through about 7 or eight of them and still have 2 PD-S and 1 27-PD lights that are all running on RCR123s.

Don is a cautious gent and builds everything well within its capabilities. The maximum drive current of 550ma in the PDs is far less than in most lights.

I don't think you need to be scared of using RCR123s but please don't sue me if I'm mistaken!!
