So, after reading a zillion reviews I decided on a EagleTac TX25C2 with NW T6.

Just to make sure I didn't miss anything vital, is there anything about this light you don't like?

Main compact single 18650 contenders in the $100 range?

That is a great light. The only thing I would have changed about it would be to make the side-switch a little larger. Otherwise, the lumen output and throw of this light for it's size is very impressive. I found the mode spacing to be very good as well.

I have completely different opinion on mode spacing than 'Mr. Tone', I think it's rubbish, presumably they made TX25C2 so small to be more EDCable, more versatile etc. but it completely lacks medium mode (50-100lm), it's either very dim (7lm) or very bright (459lm). There's Tactical Mode with 208lm setting (which is still very bright) but without low mode.

I EDC'd this light for more than a year.
It is a great little compact thrower.

The Cool White is a creamy whitish white.
The Neutral White is yellowish.
Contrary to what you might think,
neutral white is not a neutral color.

The light has a fantastic pocket clip.
You can carry this light clipped to the inside of your front pants pocket.
It will often carry quite comfortably,
and other times it will feel like a banana in your pocket.

The modes are essentially 10/500/1000 lumen.
The 200 lumen medium mode is accessed via a twisting procedure.
The reason the TX lost it's medium mode like this is because
all the other Eagtac twisty head lights are bigger and can accommodate
4 levels of brightness, rather than just the 3 levels the smaller TX has.

Selfbuilt measured the throw at 20,000+ lux.
If you want more throw you can get a Vin54 modded version.

It is very important you have a good quality cell for this light.
The Panasonic 18650 3400mAh cell comes wrapped from many vendors
including the Eagletac 18650 3400mAh cell. Get 2.

A good charger is the Nitecore i4 or D4.

My sister lives in a cabin in the Smokey Mountains,
so she now has my TX and uses Turbo mode exclusively.
She doesn't want to give it back.

I believe ET uses 4300K or 4400K emitters for neutral white, so that's one you may not like.

Thanks for the feedback!

Protected Panasonic 3400 mAh and a Nitecore D4 are on their way :) and I'm pretty sure that ~4400K will be fine.

I will, however, miss a medium mode... not sure why I didn't reflect on that reading the reviews, I'm now looking at a G25C2 Mark II or an Armytek Viking V2.5 Pro (infinite number of modes  ).

Where did you end up getting the Panasonic's from?

I had one. Used it for a few months then sold it.

Pros:
BRIGHT!
Compact.
Good LED tint. (I had NW also)

Cons:
Anodization was very fragile!
Button is too hard
Mode switch between head and body needed to be cleaned almost daily to prevent flicker and other weird operation.
"Physical" reverse polarity protection made it nearly impossible to use flat topped cells, which all but one of mine are.
Tailcap was way too tight.
Pocket clip way too soft and would always deform.
Hard to change modes with one hand.
Mode spacing is bad.
Included filters felt cheap and fragile. The threads were plastic and would always feel like they were going to cross thread.

The only light I have truly been happy with is Zebralight. But, EagleTac gives such nice emitter options that it is tempting to buy another.

Got them from "dreamsellerh" on ebay from China. He/she had pretty good feedback so hopefully they are genuine.... if not there's always the ebay money back guarantee.

Good info!

The EagleTac lights are the highest priced ones I've been looking at so I expected the quality to be top-notch.
Any info on quality on the ArmyTek lights?

Armytek's quality is top notch, my Predator had one of the best anodizations I've ever seen.

Ive got both the Zebralight 600 nw and the tx in nw. The ET is by far my favorite of the two mainly because I think ET does neutral whites near perfectly and mainly the ET does NOT get near to hot to handle in 45 seconds like the Zebralight does. Build quality on both is top notch
