3w or 5w mod.

I am new to this forum and would like to try my hand at a 3w or 5w mod. Can anyone get me started such as reading material or even a mod. that has already been done. Thank you kfen

If you hunt around here, you'll find lots of info. Take your pick as to what to try. A M@g mod might be a good start. Use a 2D cell light and modify it to accept 3C cells and direct drive a 3W. It'll be plenty bright.

You can do a search on M@g mods and find everything you need to know.

I agree, start with the Mag 2D to 3C mod and direct-drive a 3W luxeon.

All you'll really need is some 1" PVC for the converstion to 3 "C" cells, a good heatsink (search CPF for "hotlips"), the emitter and some basic soldering skills.
