messed up reviews

So I want to look at a flashlight review, I go to YouTube and for 10 minutes someone talks about the flashlight and never turns it on. That's like taking a car on a test drive and sitting in the passenger seat, or watching a porn movie with no sex in it, or trying to drink a soda and not opening the can or going to a Dodger game and not eating a Dodger dog, or going to the gym and not working out, well you get my point. So they finally take the flashlight outside and they end up throwing it at the wall. If I'm not mistaken the purpose of a flashlight is the light so why can't the reviewer simply get up, go outside and show us how it looks in the dark.

Are you upset that the review was bad, or that you lost ten minutes of your life?

People can put whatever they want on YouTube, within reason, and call it whatever they want.

Or complaining about messed up reviews and not posting an example of one.

Personally I like the going gear reviews on youtube. Think the setup of all the reviews are consistant and therefore comparable. I agree there are some poor reviews on youtube but at least somebody has bothered to take the time and effort. Bare in mind that demonstrating user interface etc is really important to lots of us just as much as the outdoor beam shots.

Its the internet. They can call it a flashlight review, and show pics of their cat.

:D

I also like GG's reviews for the same reasons mentioned.

Having a constant such as the same scenery for all the comparisons makes them a lot easier to compare, as you can see what you see or don't see in each.

Self built is another perfect example. Very reliable information presented in a consistant format everytime. Found his reviews invaluable when making decisions. But he never (that I know of) uses any live outdoor shots in his videos.

Comparison of live beamshots can be found in the 'outdoor beamshot round-ups' section on Selfbuilt's site.

Maybe you could offer some constructive criticism to the reviewers on the net that you find inadequate. I'm not sure what you think complaining to us will do to solve the problem. There are many competent reviewers here if you want to read their threads. Otherwise there isn't much we can do about poor quality free reviews posted on youtube.

If you want reviews, then look up reviews. If you want beamshots, then look up beamshots. Apparently the two are not synonymous, so maybe you just need to be more specific in your searches?
