I need to know how much the coast hp5 and hp550 draw in amps. I am calculating the runtime from a 600 mah ni-cd battery.

I haven't measured tailcap current with either of these lights. But I can tell you that runtime on an HP550 is about three hours with Eneloop 2000s. This would put runtime at a little under an hour with 600mAH batteries.
