Copper p60 triple shells. *run #2*

Here's run number 2. I have 40 available this run. I'm also working on developing a host or another light entirely. I'm quite busy lately so if I don't reply right away it'll be within a couple of days. Price has gone down 2$

Hello everyone,

I'm offering copper triple p60 shells.

I have asked Mattaus if it was ok that I made these, he gave me the ok, they differ slightly from his. I had originally planned for a solarforce only type of shell, Matts design was universally best so I went with that.

  • These are the same dimensions as Matts' shells.
  • These are for triples ie. 20mm carclo optics and 20mm noctigon, or similar thickness MCPCB.
  • 17mm driver hole with recess for potting components.
  • These do not have a ground threaded hole and screw.
  • These have a small divot to allow you to solder a wire for a ground.
  • No large outer spring included.
  • Cnc machined in a professional shop.
  • These are being made for me. I'm offering here because I know some people missed out on Matts.
  • These are for the shells only.

There's a possibility I'll have more made. If this happens it'll be a bit cheaper through the company I'm using and silver plating may be a possibility. Or reduced prices.

It's expensive here, to silver plate, because of the flat rate.

Price will be 40USD for one, and 30USD for any additional. Extra for tracking number (usually 10$ to USA, Europe). Paypal only please. Pm for paypal info.

All packages sent via small packet air through Canada Post. 6-10 day delivery.

22 available

This will be added to another forum.

Thanks for looking, feel free to ask questions or comment.

Thanks. I really wish I could take credit. You can thank Mattaus for the design and the machine shop I chose for making these exactly how I asked.

I'm happy you like them, they are some fine pieces of copper for sure.

I wish I could justify the extra cost of silver plating these. Whenever I do have more made it will probably be just a bit cheaper. There wasn't a whole lot of widespread interest in the shells unfortunately.

cool - thanks for putting these out there. It seems like they sold pretty well considering there was just a run of them a few months ago from Mattaus :D

Yeah they did sell fairly well. I'll definitely make more. I'm going to see about the plating.

I have a feeling these will sell much better as completed modules rather than shells.

Thanks to everyone who bought some.

Re: ALL SOLD: Copper p60 triple shells. future run possible

Possible to do a run of shells for quad optics?.

It is possible. I'd have to figure out the total height of components to adjust the flat led shelf.

I'm not sure what the most popular quad optics are but I'll order a couple and do some measurements.

The next run may be half triple and half quad.

how about ones that can hold a MTG2 on a 16mm board ?

Re: ALL SOLD: Copper p60 triple shells. future run possible

I won't be making any quad shells. The lack of DTP mcpcb for the emitters means quads wouldn't be able to be driven at higher current.

I don't have any plans yet to make a single emitter shell until i can find a standard size optic that would cover many beam profiles and be a standard size.

I am doing another run of the triple shells as I type this. They should be done mid April.

Any chance to do four quad shells?. I have the mcpcb's already.

Re: ALL SOLD: Copper p60 triple shells. future run possible

I wouldn't have an problem making them but with a minimum order it wouldn't be very cost effective. If there was interest in 50 I could have them made but since I'm also using these for personal builds i can't justify the cost with producing 50 that might not sell.

If new mcpcb come out that have direct thermal path I'll gamble and have them made though.

This is something I'm looking into. I have some different carclo tir optics enroute and I'll see if I can make it work without losing too much copper or drastic changes.

I'm also working on a host or new light completely. I'm meeting with the machinist in a few weeks when work slows down. Hopefully I'll have a couple of aluminum prototypes. I'll make another thread for that.

For now though I have 40 of these shells available.
