I want to get my hands on this light made by Streamlight called the Sidewinder. Its rugged and waterproof. Great features.
My only question is, since it is equipped with IR features, is it illegal for me to carry it overseas outside the USA?
Will I get in hot water for this?
Does one need military approval in order to have one of these when traveling to other countries?

Some websites who do sell this, has an ITAR warning for this product.
But I don't see it here on Amazon.

I can't directly answer your question but if you don't actually need the IR there is a model without it.

I looked at these a while ago, would still like to get one (it's on my wish list). :)

There are at least four versions (military, sportsman, aviation, rescue) maybe more, one thing to note is that the military ones start in low, med, high. The sportsman version starts in high, med, low. Not sure what UI the rescue or aviation models have, would be curious. (guessing l,m,h ??)

I personally would prefer the L,M,H but I guess that depends on use/preference.

Here is a review on the Sportsman model:

Do all NON-MILITARY versions have the Red LED added on it?
I do not need the ones with the IR features.

As long as the civilian models like the (Aviation, Sportsman, and Rescue) have the White LED and Red LED, then I am Ok with that.

Can anyone confirm this if all the civilian models have the Red LED as well?
All I need is the RED LED and the White LED as well.

Thanks

It's striking that many people want a ramp-up variant. I wonder how much CPF visitors would prefer a ramp-up to a ramp down model?
