Four years ago, stockae92 asked about using rechargeable batteries in a Stream light TLR-1, and I seconded the question.

We never got an answer, and I didn't have the appripriate batteries to test it with. Well, I just got some of the K2 LFP123s and I've set my TLR-1s running for about 30 minutes so far with no issues. It's snuggly warm to the touch but not so hot it worries me.

So someone has officially tried it and the light was OK as expected.

As long as the light in questions voltage range goes high enough for the cell you are using, you should be fine. 3.0V LiFePO4 are safe to use in most CR123a applications. 3.7V on the other hand, you have to be careful with.
