I need to use a 50mm aspheric lens on a flashlight mod that I am working on . I have seen aspheric lenses from optosigma. Prices are 50% cheaper than corresponding glass lenses from EdmundOptics and I was wondering if quality is still any good or if the lenses from Optosigma are inferior quality. Has anyone ordered an aspheric lens from Optosigma and what's the experience with the lens?
I am interested in the 50mm diameter, I noticed that there is one with a convex rear surface which has longer focal length. Can that one be used on a flashlight for throw to produce a well focused beam? I assume yes but all flashlights I've seen with aspheric lenses have a flat rear surface so I thought I'd double check.
