Fenix L2D sometimes lights, sometimes doesn't

My L2D won't light when first turned on. If I rap it against my palm a few times it usually will light. However, if I press the switch to change modes, it will go out. Then, afetr a few raps, it will light again. Can the switch be removed & cleaned, or is my problem elsewhere? TIA

Think the switch retainer ring is loose. Tighten it back up with a metal tweezers.

I second checking the retainer ring. It is good to tighten it periodically anyway and doing so has fixed a couple of my Fenix lights that were misbehaving.

Thanks for the replies. I tried to tighten the retainer ring with a small pair of angled snap ring pliers. Guess what? The ring won't budge! Any suggestions on how to loosen it? I have used Eneloops since it was new, and I can't see any corrosion or any other problems.
