Always depends on individual requirements. For example, both the green and the red would be useful where it's critical to preserve night vision. The green would be especially useful for map reading in darkness. The color options could also be useful for simplified color signalling at night. But everything's a trade-off, isn't it? With a green led at each end, you would give up some lumens but gain some battery life.
