LED chips for home lighting?

I was browsing ebay for LEDs and found a listing for an LED "chip". Heres the listing:

Ok, so it's a huge super-duper led, must cost a lot. *looks at price* OMG IT'S $1!!! for a 10W led which is about 900-1000 lumens, a little more than a typical light bulb. With both the LED and driver it is $3.18. Much much cheaper than a 40watt-equivalent (600lumens?) LED light bulb for $10.

(note: I am talking about the warm white 10 watt led chip)

But I have NEVER seen any of these LEDs used to light up a house. So i have some questions.

Would these LEDs be good for household lighting?

I've heard these chips make a LOT of heat an you need a heatsink. Sometimes even a fan! What kind of heatsink would I need for a 10 watt LED chip? How big? Would i need thermal paste like for CPUs?
Searching for "10w led heatsink" on ebay, I found all these large circular heat sinks. Is this what I would need?

Some even have fans! one with a fan would probably be better.

How good is the light from one of these LEDs? And the driver? Does the driver output a dirty wave or does it output a clean stream of electricity? Because if it outputs a wave then the LED would flicker. Also does the driver buzz a lot?

How long do they last? I've heard they don't last very long but that isn't really bad because they are so cheap, by the time you replaced the LED enough times to cost more than a better quality one, you'd get much longer life from it.

I'd like plenty of info and explanations. Thanks.

Those LED drivers are cheap because they do not implement features that are required in most of the world like EMI filters, over temperature protection, surge protection, fuses, and all those other unimportant things that make an LED driver safe.

Hmm, seems like everyone says the driver is bad. What about the LED chip itself? Suppose I use my own 12v power supply (like computer PSU) and use a 12v led driver circuit?

The driver circuit like in this video:
