Had a AA for a few weeks now. If I turn it on then off repeatedly sometimes it won't come on, even if I screw it tighter. Back it off and then on again and it will come on. I've never had one of my AAA's do this. Anybody else ever experianced this? Is my AA defective?

Yep, alot of the AAs have done that,,, mine stopped.
Peter will replace it if you wish, but I dont think its a problem.

But just to be safe,,, dont leave the light sitting around, tightened down like that,, in its "off" but tight stage.

I dont know why some do this.

My AA and AAA's do this occasionally - always correctable by cleaning the ( - ) and ( + ) contacts (so far...).

I think it's caused by aluminum oxide crystals (which are excellent insulators) that form and imbed in the ( - ) contact nub at the bottom of the battery tube, preventing reliable contact.

I like to drop a disc of fine sandpaper into the tube, and spin against the nub with a pencil eraser. Then clean with contact cleaner/DeOxit and Q-tips.

A light knife blade scrape across the ( + ) solder nub sometimes does the trick as well.

Works for me, anywho!!
