**Newbie** Solarforce X2 modification help.

Hello everyone I am new to customizing flashlights and was reaching out for some help. I just received a Solarforce X2 in trade that was not in working condition when I received it, I was aware of this and wanted it to try my hand at modding. I would like to put the highest power red LED I can in it without frying it. It currently uses a Cree XP-E R4 cool white LED. My question was if I just remove the old LED can I solder in a Cree XP-E red LED part number XPERED-L1-0000-00301 and will it work without any further modification as long as I do everything right on my end?
