Terralux Ministar31m-ex upgrade to xp-l

If I understand correctly this drop in has 3 xpgs so I would think it would be just a simple emitter swap but correct me if I'm wrong please. Lumen wise it should be 1500+ shouldn't it? I have a couple of mags laying around and would like to upgrade them to led just to have as shtf lights and for around the house use. I have considered building my own xp-l drop in as well as an xhp50 but there just isn't enough voltage or current from alkaline D cells to power an xhp50 and do not want to go lithium. The xp-l I'm not sure what driver to go with.
