Hi,

I bought this SC62, and got it last night. This morning I looked at the led while it's lighted up(0.06 lm), I saw 3 dark dots in the led.
Has anybody seen this before? Is it something I should worry about? Since this light is brand new, I assume I could ask for another one.

Picture is here <a href="http://tinypic.com?ref=308k0oj" target="_blank"><img src="http://i60.tinypic.com/308k0oj.jpg" border="0" alt="Image and video hosting by TinyPic"></a>

Thank you!

Can't see the photo in CPF app. Can you double check, on using the correct link?
You need the bottom link IIRC via Tinypic.

Mine looks just like that. I've notived that on any of my lights that can go low enough for your to look at closely. I'm not sure what it is exactly, but I believe it's normal.

Actually, now that I compare two of my lights, one has 1 large dot, the other doesn't have any. I'm sure the really small dots are normal though. I don't seem to notice anything in the beam or difference in brightness, though.

Checked via browser and the smaller dots are normal, those bigger three are uneven spaced on the led. Can't say it's normal. Where did you order at?

First, ask them what it could be. Maybe they know more about it. If it doesn't hurt the led or light, replacement isn't necessary.

Thank you KJ2!
I have left them a message through zebra website, waiting for their reply. A brand new light, not a cheap one, the dots bothers me.

Have a small dark dot on one of the led of my supbeam x40. I use it a lot since almost 6 month an so far, it didn't grow up so I'm not so worry about that.

Mine has them as well. Does not seem to bother the light function so I left it alone. I assumed it was because of the neutral white color. Seems to have some purple and red hues as well

I've checked my Spark SF3-NW (Neutral White) and do not see any larger spots visible when at 1lm.
Hopefully it is nothing serious shanewang, as you said, these sort of lights ain't cheap, so you would hope they are without issue when bought new.
Fingers crossed it nothing major... keep us informed of any progress with them.

Thank you guys for your input.
I have chatted with them through their website. It is slow, but I got an solution. They didnt tell me if these dots will hurt the LED or not, but I can get a replacement.
The process will be: First I mail mine back to them on the cost of my own, and I will leave a note for them to indicate a replacement. After they got it, they will send me a new one. Turn around time will be a week to ten days.

For customers outside the US however, the postage date will be a month later after they are aware of the situation or they got your light, not sure. Anything quicker will be a repair.

I will keep you guys updated will the progress. CPF is awesome:thumbsup:

lol!! Your pretty observant! I just checked my SC62 w/ magnifying glass and it has "One" darkish spot! It has absolutely NO effect on the beam profile in any of the numerous modes.

I would not worry about it. I have had my light 6 months.

I have no idea why your "warm" version would have Three darkish spots and my "Cool White" version has One!

It was pretty obvious with naked eyes. And later I compared to my PD35, I couldnt find any thing like that.
By the way, mine is also cool white.

I'm with you on this one. If it doesn't affect anything in the beam and has nothing to do with reliability does it really matter beyond OCD?

I just came across this thread and checked my SC52w and confirm mine has 1 larger darkish dot. What I had not noticed before until now, however, is that on the moonlight levels my SC52w is now starting to pulse slightly. It is very faint and might otherwise be missed but I was able to notice this. Battery is currently topped off - this is with the Zebralight 14500.

Has anyone else experienced this faint pulse on their moonlight modes?

I have a dark spot on my lowest setting on my Olight S15 (Ti). It seems benign.

The dark spot is visible with the naked eye. (Though with a close enough zoom, you can find tons of problems/blemishes.)
