Hi Folks,

A friend of mine just got a new T-Mobile phone a few days ago. So his account information had just been setup like 3 days before this happened which is why he caught it. He got a page/message on his phone saying that his credit card payment had been rejected and to call this number and then included an 888 number to call. Except that he just had them run his CC for payment of the initial startup costs 3 days earlier and if it hadn't gone through they would have told him then.

After talking to the phone company his account is fine and he can't find that the telephone number listed anywhere and hasn't tried to call it.

but we're running on the assumption now that people are setting up fake customer service telephone numbers and sending out mass instant message type emails to peoples cell phone numbers trying to gather ID data and credit cards!

So if you see such a thing on your phone please don't call the number listed in the message, but rather the standard customer service number of your provider to make sure you're not getting scammed also!
