They do look similar. And Koehler-Brightstar has some flashlights and headlamps that look suspeciously like Princeton Tec products.

The Brightstar has a nicad and alkaline option, so we know it takes full size batteries. The streamlight lists a nicad sub-c battery. And the head is smaller.

Just got the Gall's catalog today, and it lists the above flashlight, plus a 3-C flashlight from Koehler-Bright Star. The 3-C model looked suspiciously like a Pelican 3-C Super SabreLite, so I figured K-BS was just OEMing the Pelican lights. Then I looked at the specs:

Pelican Super Sabrelite: 3-C, 12000 Candlepower

Koehler-Bright Star: 3-C, 50000 Candlepower

50,000 versus 12,000! Could this possible be that much more light? Since this is candlepower measurements, perhaps the K-BS just has a much tighter beam or much brighter white spot, and total light output between the lights is really the same.

50K candle power? Brighter than a rechargeable Maglite?

My guess is those figures are, um, optimistic.
