Testing, testing, 123. I did a quick (sorta-semi-scientific) test of various brands and chemistries of AA and CR-123 cells. I tested flash amps and (250mA load) voltage comparisons at 65 & zero degrees. A future light output test using the complete flashlight/battery combos may give a more accurate indication of the effect of low temperature.

This is only a general observation: alkaline AA flash amps decline aprox. 40% @ zero deg.; NiMH & NiCd about 30%; and CR-123 lithiums 20%. Almost no voltage decrease occured at the 250mA load. Old cells declined almost 50% @ zero degrees.

A run-time comparison would probably be useful too - maybe in the future.
