I already have a ccrane Trek 3 and a Lightwave 2000, but I saw the ccrane Trek (no number) at REI in the iMac blue, so i had to get it. The short version: I'm going to return it.
The long version: the 2 LEDs in the ccrane Trek are inferior in brightness to the Trek 3, despite the floodbeam pattern of the Trek 3. I don't know which LEDs the lights are manufactured with, but I had thought that the Trek (no number) would have a spot similar to the Lightwave 2000 (and be waterproof too). No such luck. The spot is small and peanut-shaped due to each LED contributing individually to the spot. I didn't (and won't because I repackaged it and will return it) do any comparision to a photon 2 or the PAL on the low setting. For the same size, the Trek 3 is superior, and if you want a spot, the Lightwave is the one to get in the 3AA size. Unless waterproofness (300m) and long run time (50 hour) are paramount, the Trek 3 (160m/40 hour) is much better light.
