I currently have a StreamLight TLR-3 with the "C4 LED" in it. The package is nice and durable but the output leaves a lot to be desired and the light runs on CR2 batteries which I normally don't keep around. As many of us do, I have accumulated a stockpile of CR123 batteries with expiration dates decades in the future so I'd love to find a pistol light that takes this battery. I'll be using this light on a full size pistol so a medium-sized pistol light would work well.
Has there been any developments in pistol lights in the last couple of years? Is there anything in the pipeline I should wait for?
I'd love to just plunk down for a Surefire but $300 is a bit spendy. Reliability is obviously very important to this application but I'd like to keep this purchase around $100. Is the StreamLight TLR-1 still the best light in this range?
