Hey there, I was once TopGunWgHs but could not log back in (Admin please delete that account).
I have been a flashaholic for many years now and since fallen out of the loop, I am glad to be back and need some information on my Sky Ray STL-V2. Purchased in 2013 I believe, the light has been my trusty companion and an Awe-Shocker to those who have seen it in use. Typically powered by a pair of 2400mah Ultrafire's (which I am now reading are a complete crap brand) it has out thrown any light in comparison except for my Phillips upgraded MagLite D-Cell with a 28min runtime.
I have left it in the car most of its life, cold nights, hot days, dry, and humid weather.
1) I read that it is still one of the ultimate bargain throwers out there as well, is that still true?
2) With new Panasonic NCR18650B's the light is still no brighter than my "throw away" Cree Q5 $2.99 special, which should be about 200-300lm. Does this mean the LED, components, etc are finally dead and it's done?
3) Are their new 60mm style heads I could buy for cheap with similar output and throw 250-350yard territory?
4) If 3 is a NO, then should I buy another STL-V2 or is there something else new under $50 +/- that throws or outthrows the V2?
I have 2 Condor C8's on the way after some research to an ultimate 18650 light under $15, but see that it will not out throw the V2 in any way. I have 2 extensions as well for 2x 18650 use. What output and runtime would I be expecting with the Panasonic 3400mah's?

p.s. ( For the DSLR folks) What type of light would be ideal for "light-painting" photography? I am really enjoying it in my recent travels...
