Flashlight voltage protection...

Hey CPF!

I've been looking at one of Vinh's lights, and had a question. He has his own operating system, with voltage cutoff, so when the battery hits 3 volts it steps down. With one 18650, is 3 volts achieved quickly? This would be a 1 led thrower, with one 18650. Also, do I need the voltage protection with a protected battery?

For himself, this timid writer answers your question with a question, "Do they need backup systems in a 747?" This assumes, of course, that you are not running a hot rod that requires unprotected batteries.
