Can anyone (Peter or testers) tell me about the Arc4 reflector material and finish? I seem to recall mention of it being simply the machined and polished head aluminum. I think that over time that would oxidize, changing the sharp reflector focus into more of a diffuse reflector as has happened to my older AAAs. Is the Arc4 reflector finished or coated to prevent oxidation? TIA to anyone who can help.

Yes, it is actually quite a complex system of coatings and materials. It should have no problem with oxidization.

When you remove the lens, the reflector surface can be cleaned, but you should be very careful to not scratch the surface.

Peter, with the light normally sealed, and your statment about oxidation indicating that the reflectors been treated to stave off oxidation, do you anticipate circumstances in which the reflector would need to be cleaned?
