They don't train you?
Here's where I'd start:
1) Electrcial theory, various methods, look at "The Art of Electronics"
2) Read "How to win friends and influence people" ( I think that's the title ) "Solution Selling", there's a million of them.
3) Do homework on how the business models of the industry work, and research your customers.
4) Sell really cool stuff to us on the board.
