Hey Flashaholics, flashlight enthusiasts, and CPF people!

My new 450 lumen, single lithium RCR123 MDC flashlight gets Very hot very fast! I ran it inside for about 5 minutes on high and wow!

is it suppose to get this hot? Should I turn it off when it gets hot?

Yes turn it off. Small lights with high output usually get very hot. I know my zebralight sc32w does. I suggest using medium for most things and high just for burst. You could also email Gene Malkoff to ask him about it.

Use the rule of thumb. If it's too hot to hold your thumb on it, then back it down to medium to cool down for a bit.

A light that size putting out that many lumens is assuredly going to get hot. The brass pills and aluminum bodies Gene uses move heat pretty well so it is to be expected. At least the heat is being transferred away from the emitter, you can be happy about that.
