These are a few photos that I took at a large bridge near my house recently.

The distance across to the last concrete columns is approximately 600 meters.

Map of the bridge area with the red line showing the beam path of 600 meters.

The photo below is showing the SR52UT making it to the last column nicely. A nice cool white beam.

The photo below shows the Javelot M3XS-UT improving on the throw of the SR52UT.

It has a warmer yellowish almost greenish looking beam that most people do not like including me!!!

The photo below shows the DEFT-X doing what it does best.

The DEFT-X again.

A closeup of the column with the DEFT-X. You really have to see this beam in person to fully appreciate that beam with no spill.

The DEFT-X again. The brightness setting on the camera was increased below to show the beam a bit better in this shot.

A blue laser aimed at the same spot.

I have more photos to upload later.

The Javelot M3XS-UT does throw better than the SR52UT by about 150 meters.

Nice shots mate. That Deft-x is certainly a beast.

The Captain Cook bridge-all the lights do well considering the ambient light, great pics.

Yes the DEFT-X is the KING of throwers.

I don't think they are being made anymore.

The Olight M3XS-UT is the best non-aspherical light that I currently own.

The camera is an older model Canon Powershot S5IS.

The camera was set to "MANUAL" mode.

The camera was set to 400 ASA.

Aperture is usually F3.5.

Shutter speed is usually about 2 to 4 seconds.

The camera has to be mounted on a tripod.

The light must also be mounted securely preferably on a tripod.

I use a Manfrotto 035B Super Clamp mounted on another tripod to hold the lights nice and tight.

This clamp will hold the smaller size rifle mount size lights and the big diameter lights over 50mm.

Yes the ambient light makes things harder than doing the beamshots in a dark football field or a bush setting.

But the beams can be seen ok in these "real world" shots.

I am really pushing it to see a beam landing on the concrete columns 600 meters away as not many lumens would be landing on that concrete.

I could see the beam on that last set of columns without the help of binoculars etc.

Hi OZtorchefreak, What is the beamdistance-kcD of the DeftX=

Eventual people at the end of that bridge, now seeing alot of stars i think...or see for a time nothing anymore......will be very intense, to look from 600 meters into this flashlights.

And how much mW is your blue laser

I have a 1000 mW yellow, and blue laserpen...its incredible, and VERY dangerous, so i cannot use it anywhere without danger, in any urban area...so i need to go far out urban area, to have fun.

I also have a Nitecore TM36, with almost 400 kcd.

The light at max mode of it, is so intense, that if i hit someone, with it, it can be dangerous.

That is incredible isn't it?

In my mind, I see you with one ☺
Then I'd be seeing stars too.

My DEFT-X is tested by the maker as being 962KCD.

The beam is able to reach approximately 1897 meters or 1.17 miles.

I make sure the lights and the laser is pointed at nothing else but the high points of the concrete columns of the bridge.

Nobody can get to that area unless they are in a Spiderman suit

My blue laser is a beauty but in Australia we are only allowed under 5mw.

Our Government wants to keep us safe from terrorists that might grab our powerful lasers and use them against us all.

We are so lucky in this Country to have such a caring Government, HA!!!

So we don't talk about the size of our lasers.

Hey OTF, time allowing some time in future, if you are going to do more shots at the same location, i would like test my little modded M2X-UT 300kcd plus against your M3X-UT to see how they compare.

Amazing photos! How come the DeftX isnt made anymore? Noticed the DeftX appears to have zero spill. Have the M3X UT and it is amazing but for long range and general use Ill take the SR52 UT. Sweet laser! Any laser more powerful than a laser pointer is illegal where I live for some reason

The DEFT-X has no spill as it uses an aspheric lens that projects an image of the LED.

The DEFT-X was a long and hard project for Michael (Saabluster) and it got to be quite an expensive light that most guys could not afford anyhow.

The SR52UT has a nice grip in the hand unlike the tactical feel of the M3XS-UT.

It is a nice little laser pointer.
