Thread: The Oldest LIGHT, Flashlight, Torch... In the world.

Default The Oldest LIGHT, Flashlight, Torch... In the world.

Last night I had the fortunate opportunity to take in and test the oldest light in the world. This is older than LEDs, Incandescents, HIDs, Neon, Florescents, hell even candles and fire. This was an example of a "blood" version with a very special filter so can you guess what it was and the filter used?

Ha, cute. We had cloud cover all night long. I couldn't see anything but the beams of my flashlights. Which was fun too.

    Nice pics..

No wait, its the Original Moon Mode. But on blood moon, it would likely still be too bright for some of the folks here. ha!
Interested in Saltytri lights. Pm me!

    Oldest light? Hmmm... let's see....

Ah! The Big Bang. It was so bright, it's still echoing through the Universe as background radiation.

Finally! A light bright enough for me. I want one.

My relatives walked in the house after wasting about an hour watching the eclipse. They told me it was so cloudy they could barely see anything. My reply: "Rip off!"

    Here's a pretty old one..
Suffered from flicker though, and runtime was really lousy...

The beam?....nice warm shocking bright tint.

Hmm lemme check the specs of that ancient light. Powered by high powered bulb aka Sun which runs on a very explosive reaction. Has insanely long runtimes for its class of lumens. It seems to be acting like a sort of massive reflector no not the plastic or aluminium kind... Distance? Let's just say it's more of a flooder than a thrower

Hmmm, that light is as old as dirt!

Regarding the filter, did you use a polarizing lens? Thanks for sharing the pictures, I looked out, but the sky was too overcast to see the eclipse.

The eclipse was spectacular in northern MA.

Ya got me there. I didn't take any. I watched through my slider and screen so photos would have sucked. Beautiful view though.

    Look, I'm a sub-lumen fan.

And that thing is just far too bright.

I'm just not going to buy one of these, until they come out with a version that has a proper moonlight mode.

But isn't the light from the moon by definition... moonlight?

Are you saying the moon doesn't have a moonlight mode? I thought that was the benchmark or something.

It's even got multiple moonlight modes, depending on the phase at the time.

Several shots on single frame of 1985 eclipse.

    ^^^wow nice Photoshopping?

And yeah the throw is pretty decent in my opinion for a moonlight mode

I kind of saw the full moon coming it was the Chinese Mid-Autumn festival. It's supposed to be the most round at that time .

Exactly. I want a real moonlight mode, and I want NW or WW.

And the color rendering? Horrible. Makes everything look sort of silvery-white.

This early version is interesting, but I'm not going to buy one until they can fix some of these obvious problems.

Also--when I look directly at the emitter, I'm pretty sure I see a lot of irregularities.
It's like there is, I don't know, dust or something on it.

This is just poor quality control.

Dust? Yeah, the moon uses a dust-based and high orange-peel diffuser. That's why it doesn't show a hotspot on the earth. Smooth, even flood... but it occasionally shows rings.

Yeah I think it has a more of dusty reflector (with some artefacts) and I hope the manufacturer does correct the obvious issues. Anyone got their contact info? But a very unique creation as it comes up at night and lights your way with a odd moonlight mode.

I'm kinda disappointed with it's once-a-month total outage... it doesn't work AT ALL!!

Here's my last moon shot take on 9/11/11. I did not have my camera for the Blood Moon, but it was a fantastic view from Central Texas.

Wow that is REALLY good up close shot. Shows all the details . It's not that easy to do that. Especially if your not using a proper camera .

Took this with my phone of the recent super moon eclipse, too bad i dont have a tripod or a fancy optical camera there was a lot of street lights and cars next to the field I was in, so the beamshot photos are not accurate..
