Cree XTE vs MX6 emitters

I'm looking to do a little project where I want 2200 CCT 3v'ish emitters that are readily available (e.g. in-stock without large minimum order quantities at somewhere like Mouser). Looks like the best two candidates are Cree XTE and MX6 series. I'm wondering how to decide between the two.

The XTE has slightly lower forward-voltage (and slightly higher typical current), which I think may help me a little (putting a bunch in series, so keeps the required voltage a little lower).

OTOH, I'm probably going to be mounting these are on stars myself (one LED per star) using solder paste and an old toaster oven - if ease of doing that affect the decision (maybe because the MX6 is much larger ?)

I get the impression the MX6 is an older line, so dunno if obsolescence could be an issue.

Cost is fairly comparable.

There's also the XPE to consider I guess, though Mouser doesn't seem to stock it.

Thanks !
