Just thought I'd share a few pictures of an led swap I did on my headlamp. The swap went really smooth. The light came with an XP-E led. Nothing wrong with it, but I really love the beautiful colors that the awesome Nichia 219 high cri led emits, plus I have a need to discern slight color variations with electrical wiring occasionally, and it just doesn't get any better than with this led (to my knowledge). So anyhow. The pictures.

As assembled from Fenix with XP-E led:

The awesomeness of Nichia high cri reflowed onto the Fenix mcpcb:

And a quick shot showing the Nichia's glory cast onto a Skittles bag:

I did a similar mod with a Fenix HP25, I added 2 80 CRI Cree XP-E2's in the flood reflector and throw reflector.
Much better tint for outdoor use.

How did you swap the LED? did you unsolder the little chip and replaced it or did you replace the whole circuit board?

sorry i'm new to this stuff and i wanted to replace my Fenix HP25 LEDs with Red LEDs.

Thanks

Um, pic#2 clear shows the new LED was reflowed onto the stock Fenix board.

Hey guys. Just a quick question: how did you open it up? I tried unscrew top sliver nut but it was no go. Any ideas? I would like to put XP-G2 R5-2C emitter inside to get a bit more light. Thank you.

Okay, I made it in. Proper size circlip pliers worked pretty well. Now need to solve dilema of putting either XP-G2 R5-2C 6500K or Nichia NVSW219BT-V1 5700K CRI92 emitter. Anyone?
