I have some left over strings of white led's and wanted to use the in my RV. I am just running them off the RV's 12v system but they get hot quick. Do I need to add a resister? Thanks Michael

as a rule of thumb, if they feel hot, it wouldn't hurt to add some heatsinking.... bonding the LED strip to some aluminum (or other material with low thermal resistance) should help. The heatsink will need to be exposed to the air so it can transfer the heat to the air.

The 12V battery bus in cars, RVs, etc., can produce some nasty transient voltages. Does the LED strip manufacturer offer any suggestions as to whether the strip was designed for this sort of use?
