Hey guys,

so I have a 2D Maglite I really want to mod into a tri-LED setup. Here's what I have so far:
  1. Perfect Tri-Star "D" modamag heatsink
  2. 2D Black Maglite (incan)

Here are my planned parts, but this is where I want your help/feedback:
  1. 3x McR-17XR reflectors (from the Shoppe)
  2. 3x Cree XM-L2 T6 4C on 20mm Noctigon MCPCB
  3. 20mm FET driver (link)
  4. UCL lens
  5. will probably have Jesus H. or someone tri-bore my Mag's body for 18650s in parallel

Am I missing anything in my list of planned parts? I figure the 20mm FET driver should be able to power 3x XM-L2 LEDs (wired in parallel) pretty well with 2 or 3 18650s (also in parallel)

I do, however, have another question: how do I hold the reflectors in place? Does the Maglite's lens do that?

Thanks a lot guys! I appreciate any and all help

I would try to source DerWichtel 3LED drop-in / heatsink + Reflector holder. It has larger reflectors (23mm, maximum size for triple) for better throw :).

Built one of these 8 years back and I seem to remember using 3 IMS 20 Reflectors (also in the shoppe) that had 3 feet that lock in the corner cuts of the LED star to center it but yes the Mag lens will hold it down
a McR17xr will move side to side and might short your contacts on the star
