    Default EC4SW release date?

When can we expect to see the new EC4SW for sale?

This should probably be merged into the EC4SW thread, but I'm curious too. I contacted Nitecore about it, but as usual, they don't respond.

That's why I thought I would ask here, they said they talk to nitecore directly so I was hoping they would have an answer

I'm not dying but it would be nice. I would rather have this than the Solarforce m3 with mtg2 build I was planning

I found it at one site from China, but shipping is at least 15 days. I think I'll wait until a US dealer starts selling.

The factory has the lights but not the packaging or the updated manual.

We will wait till next week to see if new packaging is available, or we will just send them out in the EC4S box.

The EC4SW uses MT-G2 LED and has 2000 lumens.

Battery Junction. In stock December 2. I'll probably go with NitecoreStore for the better price, maybe?

I say battery junction's preorder. I was really hoping it would be available in time for the black Friday deals this week.

NitecoreStore's discount gets it to the price I'm comfortable with. Unless battery junction sends a better deal by email, but I haven't seen anything yet.

Other than the MG-T2's "NW" tint, is there anything else driving the EC4SW purchase (more flood, etc.)?
Just curious, as the EC4S performs very well IMHO.

I really want the slightly warmer NW. I would call my EC4S a "good" CW, though. My EC4S also has a very acceptable 60uA drain when off (compared to some reports). Hopefully I get as lucky with the EC4SW.

You can mod your EC4S by replacing the emitter to G2

It would be nice, but the problem with that statement lies with the "you"

You bet. Then I'll have to try and sell the EC4S. That will be tough due to the recent deals.

I'd wait til you compare the two. Might not be all you hoped for...

That's a good idea. EC4S is pretty nice, but I'm hoping for a nice neutral with the MT-G2...we'll see. I don't want to get stuck with a nasty yellow or green. MT-G2s have a pretty good record from what I've seen, though.

Looking forward to it, especially since I'm probably "stuck" with that EC4S...the deals brought the price so low I doubt I can make selling it worthwhile

Be assured I will be asking you about the real world use of the two, regarding tint. And that does not mean doing an A/B comparison. Our brains and eyes do their own kind of 'white balance', so I will be asking for your subjective viewpoint after you have gone out with each flashlight on separate occasions, without other light (tints) messing with your cranial white balance.

Instead of selling one of them, You could use the other EC4 as a spare batteries mobile storage device; That's what I'll be using mine for, most likely.

Just the other day my friend txt'ed me out of the blue since he knows I'm into LED torches and indoor bulbs. He told me he accidentally bought "daylight" (5000K) bulbs at the store and put them in his laundry room. He described how it "sucked for one day until my brain adjusted" now he just sees a brighter light which "wasn't as blue anymore". He also said "my normal living room lights now seem yellow/orange". Then he said "driving home all the other cars headlights seemed orange except a few (probably those damn blue BMW, Audi, Cadillacs) compared to my car"

It was cool to hear all that outside CPF from a "normal" person

While all that is true, I still like to compare and pick the best of the best for me. Even though my EC4S is pretty good on it's own...the fact that I KNOW there is a better CCT out there (~5000K) bothers me. Sort of like when I buy a hard drive for my computer. "Drive A" is perfectly fine for $60; but spending $90 for "Drive B" is just peace of mind I enjoy. I may not know the difference without comparing both in a test, but I still feel better knowing "B" is better in my opinion.

Not the best example since "better" may be 6500K for some people. But the idea is trying to always use the best tint for me whether it's in a direct comparison or on it's own.

I'll do my best to give my impression of both EC4 models, though! I already semi-reviewed the EC4S and found grass to be bluish, browns to be almost grey, skin to be just awful, and all the usual stuff associated with a cool white.
    GOOD TINT!
