Anyone taken a close look at a PT Attitude lamp assembly? Does it look feasible to unsolder the LED's and replace them with colored ones? What about the limiting resistor(s)-- is there a separate resistor for each LED, what type (SMT?), etc.

My idea is to replace the three white LED's with yellow or yellow/orange/red, lower the limiting resistors and put the module into a Blast body, giving a 2aaa 3-LED light with fairly long runtime and no "moving parts" (i.e. no boost converter). Someone else has already modded the Blast lamp assembly by sticking an Opalec Newbeam into it, but the resulting runtime was surprisingly short.

paulr--I checked out my Attitude and it's pretty difficult to tell. The LEDs are encased in a plastic housing which is glued to the board. I'd have to pry the board off of the housing to see where the LEDs and the board meet. If I have time I'll take a pic of it later.
